One of the tallest towers in Italy, the civic tower of the town hall (Palazzo Pubblico) is located in the famous Piazza del Campo. It is the same height as the bell tower of the Siena Cathedral, symbolising the balance between celestial and earthly powers, neither one imposing itself on the other.
