The symbol of Rome and Italy, the Colosseum, originally Flavian Amphitheatre, is the world’s largest amphitheatre (it could hold up to 75,000 people). Built under emperor Vespasian and officially opened under emperor Titus in 80 AD, it is the legendary venue of circus acts and gladiator fights.
