Beautifully preserved, the Baths of Caracalla are an excellent example of Roman imperial baths. The complex is based on the model of the elegant Baths of Trajan: this large quadrangular enclosure includes a garden and a central building with the dressing rooms, bath area and ‘palaestras’ (gyms).
