Hadrian’s Villa

Built in the first half of the 2nd century AD at the behest of emperor Hadrian, it was later an imperial residence. Its main monuments are the Pecìle complex (inspired by the Ancient Agora of Athens), the Canopus, resembling the Nile Delta, the Maritime Theatre, the baths and the Philosophers’ Hall.
