Morgantina is an ancient Sicilian city, later under Greek rule. The area accessible to visitors preserves remains from the mid-5th century to the late 1st century BC, the time of maximum splendour of the Hellenic settlement. Among the remains are the Agora, the monumental fountain with double basin, the “macellum” (ancient market), the theatre and the sanctuary of Demeter and Kore.
