The Cathedral, proclaimed a national monument in 1941, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015 as part of the Sicilian Arab-Norman Itinerary: it has two imposing towers made lighter by elegant mullioned and single-lancet windows, surmounted by pyramidal spires added in the 15th century.
