Discovering the Lakes of Northern Italy

Day 1 :

Villa Taranto and Lake Orta

Arrival in the Lake Maggiore region in the morning, followed by a visit to the famous Villa Taranto Gardens in Verbania, known for the beauty and diversity of their plantings. Then, transfer to Pettenasco for lunch at a local restaurant. After the meal, departure by boat to San Giulio Island for a guided tour, then continuation by boat to the charming village of Orta, where a walk is planned. Late afternoon, return by boat to Pettenasco before reaching a hotel in the region for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 :

Borromean Islands

The day is entirely dedicated to discovering the three Borromean Islands. Starting from Baveno, a boat trip allows consecutive visits to Isola Bella, where you will discover the sumptuous Borromeo Palace with its magnificent richly decorated halls and tiered gardens offering spectacular views of the lake. Then, continuation to Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre, each offering a unique blend of landscapes, gardens, and historic architecture. Late afternoon, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 :

Lake Como: Villa Carlotta and Bellagio

Departure towards Lake Como with a first stop at Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo, famous for its lush gardens and art collection. Then, continuation by boat to Bellagio for lunch at a restaurant in the heart of the village. The afternoon is free for a stroll through the village and discovery of its picturesque alleys. Return by boat to Tremezzo, then transfer to a hotel located in the region for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 :

Bergamo

In the morning, departure towards Bergamo for a visit to the city, the Italian Capital of Culture 2023. You will discover the Città Alta, the historic heart perched on a hill, with its cobblestone streets, lively squares like Piazza Vecchia, elegant palaces, and ancient churches that recount the citys history and artistic heritage. Lunch is planned at a local restaurant during the visit. In the afternoon, continuation towards Lake Garda and check-in at a hotel located in the region for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 :

Lake Garda: Sirmione and Bardolino region

Day dedicated to discovering Sirmione and its surroundings. A 30-minute boat trip allows for a tour around the peninsula, offering a 360° view of the Grottoes of Catullus and the Roman villa, with a stop in front of the villa for detailed explanations on board. Bubbles on the waters surfacereveal the presence of the famous natural thermal springs, while the Fortress is approached by passing under the ancient drawbridges for a unique and spectacular perspective. Lunch is planned at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continuation by bus to Garda and visit a cellar or farm in the Bardolino area for a tasting of wines and local products. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 :

Southern Lake Garda: Gardone and Salò

The morning is dedicated to discovering the south-west region of the lake, with a visit to Gardone Riviera and the famous Vittoriale degli Italiani as well as the Lungolago d’Annunzio. Then, continuation to Salò, a town rich in history, architecture, and art, known for having been the seat of the Italian Social Republic during the last years of the Fascist regime. Lunch is planned at a restaurant during the visit. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 :

Verona

In the morning, departure for Verona for a visit to the city, famous for its picturesque historic centre. You will discover emblematic squares like Piazza delle Erbe, the Roman Arena, and the medieval streets that evoke the citys rich artistic and architectural heritage. Lunch is planned at a local restaurant. After lunch, end of our services.
