In the morning, a walking tour to discover the Navigli district, the canals which since the 12th century, with the construction of the Naviglio Grande, have been the protagonists of Milan’s economic fortune. The Navigli in fact allowed navigation through an area which, from the areas of Lake Maggiore and Lake Como, crossing the whole plain, extended from Lower Ticino to the sea. Over the centuries, the network of canals gradually extended with the construction of the Naviglio Pavese and, from the 14th century, the water played a role in the transit of the materials that were used for the construction of the Cathedral. Work that continued for the following centuries with important achievements such as the Viarenna and Naviglio de Martesana basin. The Renaissance period dates back to the improvement projects Leonardo da Vinci made, as a hydraulic engineer, to the system of basins, which regulated the flow of water. Continuation to Vigevano, the “ideal city” imagined by Leonardo da Vinci to welcome the Duke of Milan, for which Leonardo made all the sketches on the basis of the town plan of the historic center. Visit of “La Leonardiana”, the museum dedicated to the genius of the Renaissance, which remained for a long time here at the court of Ludovico il Moro. A unique museum in the world exhibiting all the work that Leonardo was able to think up and create during his life: the drawings, now kept in dozens of museums and libraries around the world, the notebooks that accompanied his days, full of his brilliant thoughts and intuitions, the codes which after his death were assembled by his friends and heirs and which are kept today in the greatest libraries and institutions of the world. The route of the exhibition is completed by the “pinacoteca impossibile”, in which the 26 paintings currently recognized by his hand are exhibited, reproduced on a large scale with special high-resolution techniques, which allow the visitor to immerse himself in the entire work, a unique experience that will allow a fine and in-depth analysis of its artistic language.
