Paris, Normandy and the Châteaus of the Loire

Day 1 :

Paris

Arrival at Paris airport and transfer to a semi-central hotel in Paris. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 :

Paris

Breakfast in hotel and full day dedicated to a visit with guide to Paris, known as “La Ville Lumière”, a major world capital for fashion and culture. Sights include the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the Latin Quarter, home to the Sorbonne University since mediaeval times, and the hill of Montmartre, a traditional meeting place for artists. Lunch in a restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 3 :

Paris/Versailles

Breakfast in hotel and departure for Versailles. Visit with guide to the famous palace built by Louis XIV, the Sun King, in the 17th century. Lunch in a restaurant and return to Paris, stopping at La Défense, the modern business district dominated by the Grande Arche, offering excellent views stretching as far as the Louvre. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 :

Paris/Louvre

Guided visit after breakfast to the Louvre Museum, one of the world’s largest and most famous, with numerous artistic masterpieces, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Lunch in a restaurant and free time in the afternoon. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 :

Paris/Mont Saint-Michel

Breakfast in hotel and departure for Mont Saint-Michel, a tiny island linked to the mainland by a narrow strip of land and the site of an ancient and imposing Benedictine monastery considered to be one of the wonders of the western world. Arrival expected in the late morning, followed by lunch in a restaurant and afternoon visit with guide to the island and abbey. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel at Mont Saint-Michel or in the vicinity.

Day 6 :

Mont Saint-Michel/Châteaus Of The Loire/Tours

Breakfast in hotel and departure for the Loire Valley, situated in the province of Touraine, known as “The Garden of France”. Lunch in a restaurant at Amboise and guided visit to the Royal Château from the 15th and 16th centuries, situated in a panoramic position overlooking the River Loire, and to the Renaissance mansion of Clos Lucé, famous for being the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Inside and in the large park there are conserved or reconstructed examples of some of the most spectacular inventions of the Italian genius. Transfer to Tours for check-in at hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 :

Tours/Chenonceaux/Paris

Breakfast in hotel and departure for Chenonceaux for a guided visit to one of the most fascinating châteaus of the Loire Valley, built in Renaissance style on the River Cher and known as the “Château des Dames”, as it was built and lived in mainly by noblewomen. Return to Paris after lunch in a restaurant, with arrival expected in the late afternoon. Check-in at hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8 :

Paris

Breakfast in hotel and transfer to Paris airport.
