Rome and the Etruscans

Day 1 :

Destination Italy

Arrival in hotel at Montecatini towards evening. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 :

Orvieto

Departure for Orvieto, with arrival late morning. Lunch in restaurant and guided visit to the splendid and little-known town of Orvieto, founded by the Etruscans. With the San Lorenzo Church, Piazza del Duomo with the magnificent Romanesque-Gothic cathedral, St Patrick’s Well, etc. Continues towards coast for accommodation till day 6 in the area of Tarquinia/Santa Marinella. Welcome cocktail. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 :

Cerveteri/Pyrgi/Santa Severa

Departure for Cerveteri, guided visit to the Bantitaccia Necropolis and the National Museum in the ancient town centre. Lunch in restaurant. Continues to Pyrgi, with guided visit to excavations of an Etruscan sanctuary, where important finds have been made recently. Guided visit to the medieval castle of Santa Severa, built on the ruins of ancient Pyrgy of Roman origin. Free time afterwards for visit to craft workshops in the old town. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 4 :

Rome

Full day for classic tour of Rome, with local guide available. Lunch in restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 5 :

Vulci

Departure for Vulci. Guided visit to archaeology and nature park at Vulci, fascinating combination of unspoilt Maremma countryside and Etruscan and Roman archaeological remains. Lunch in restaurant in park and departure for North Italy. Stop for dinner and overnight stay in Bologna area.

Day 6 :

Return

Breakfast and end of our services.
