Tour of European Shrines to the Virgin Mary

Day 1 :

Krakow

Arrival at Warsaw Airport and transfer to Kraków for dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 2 :

Krakow / Wieliczka / Krakow

Visit in the morning to the city, once the capital of the Kingdom of Poland, and its old centre, the first place in Europe to be declared a World Heritage Site. Lunch and excursion in the afternoon to Wieliczka to visit the world’s oldest working salt mine. Return to Kraków for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 :

Kraków / Auschwitz / Czestochowa / Kraków

Visit in the morning to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration camp now a symbol to the memory of deportees in the Second World War. Lunch followed by departure for Cz?stochowa, an important Catholic shrive visited by pilgrims from all over the world. Visit to the Jasna Góra Monastery and the famous Black Madonna icon. Return to Kraków for dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 4 :

Kraków / Brno / Prague 

Departure in the morning for Prague, stopping for lunch at Brno, with a short visit to the city and then continuing to the capital of the Czech Republic. Arrival in the late afternoon for hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 5 :

Prague 

Full day dedicated to visiting Prague, sometimes called the “City of a Hundred Spires” or the “Golden City,” and with its old centre declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free time for lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6 :

Prague / Frankfurt 

Departure in the morning for Frankfurt, one of Europe’s most important financial centres. Stop for lunch along the way, with arrival in the afternoon for a visit to the city centre, including the Römerberg Square, the City Hall and the Cathedral, where the kings of the Holy Roman Empire were crowned in the Middle Ages. Check-in at hotel, dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 7 :

Frankfurt / Luxembourg / Paris 

Departure in the morning for France. Stop for lunch in Luxembourg, with a short visit to the city centre and then continuing to Paris, the capital of France and known as “La Ville Lumière”. Arrival in the late afternoon for hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 8 :

Paris

Full day dedicated to a visit to the city, with sights including in particular the Notre Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, dominating the city from the hill of Montmartre, and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, where several apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary have been seen. Free time for lunch, followed by dinner in the evening and overnight stay in hotel. 

Day 9 :

Paris / Versailles 

Excursion in the morning to Versailles, with a visit to the famous palace built in the 17th century by Louis XIV, the “Sun King”, and its magnificent gardens, Return to Paris for lunch. Afternoon free. Dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 10 :

Paris / Châteaus of The Loire / Tours 

Departure in the morning for the Loire Valley, famous for its many châteaus. Stop at Blois to visit the Royal Château de Blois, a fascinating blend of French architectural styles. Departure after lunch for Chambord, where the town’s château can be visited, an imposing Renaissance masterpiece built by King Francis I. The tour then continues to Chenonceaux to visit the Renaissance château on the River Cher, often known as the “Ladies’ Château”, because it was built and lived in mainly by noblewomen. Dinner and overnight stay in Tours or nearby.

Day 11 :

Tours / Bordeaux / Lourdes 

Departure in the morning for Lourdes, stopping for lunch at Bordeaux. Arrival in the late afternoon for hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 12 :

Lourdes 

Full day dedicated to a visit of the Sanctuary and the Grotto of the Apparitions, also including other sacred sites associated with St Bernadette and attendance at services. Free time for lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel. 

Day 13 :

Lourdes / Zaragoza / Madrid

Departure in the morning for Madrid, stopping at Zaragoza for lunch and a visit to the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basilica, the oldest in Spain and perhaps in the whole of Europe. Departure later for Madrid, with arrival in the late afternoon for hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 14 :

Madrid / Ávila 

Visit in the morning to the capital of Spain, with a host of splendid museums and monuments like the Royal Palace and the El Prado Museum. Lunch and excursion in the afternoon to Ávila, a Spanish mediaeval jewel where the relics of St Teresa of Jesus are kept. Return to Madrid for dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 15 :

Madrid 

Transfer to airport for departure. End of our services.
