Villa Lante has one of the most well-known Italian Mannerist gardens of surprise of the 16th century. Its design is attributed to the architect Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola. The gardens, designed to allow a harmonious flow of water, feature water games, cascades, fountains and dripping grottoes.
