One of the largest Franciscan churches, the Basilica is one of Italy’s greatest examples of Gothic art. Known as “Tempio dell’Itale Glorie”, it hosts the remains of famous personalities such as Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Niccolò Machiavelli, Vittorio Alfieri, Ugo Foscolo and Gioacchino Rossini.
