Ancient Port of Classe

Classe, the Roman military port of Ravenna, was highly strategic in ancient times: it was said to house up to 250 warships thanks to 3 kilometres of docks. It became less important from 300 AD when the fleet base was moved to the new capital city of Constantinople at the behest of Constantine I.
