In 1993, a 700-square metre archaeological site was discovered beneath the Church of Sant’Eufemia, including a Byzantine palace known as the Domus of the Stone Carpets, decorated with wonderful mosaics and marble inlays: the mosaic floorings feature geometric, floral and figurative patterns.
