Swabian Castle

Built under the reign of Frederick II of Swabia on a rocky bank in the centre of the town’s roadstead that protected it from possible attacks from the sea, it was a fine example of a maritime fortification of the Kingdom of Sicily, but was later subject to intense changes under the following rulers.
