Opened in the late 18th century and finally rebuilt in 2003, it is the opera house of celebrated operatic and symphonic seasons. During the 19th century it hosted the premieres of works by Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti.
